Iraq, Baghdad: The Iraqi Minister of Electricity, Ziyad Ali Fadel, announced that an agreement has been reached with the Saudi company ACWA Power to build a solar power plant with a capacity of 1000 MW in the central part of the country.

The minister announced this during a meeting with senior officials from the Saudi company, where they reviewed the required steps to sign the contract for the new power plant in Najaf governorate. He said that the contract which has been delayed for three years will soon be completed with the support of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani. ‏The two sides have decided to schedule additional meetings in order to finalize the deal. ​
