Netherlands, Arnhem: TenneT should start work on the third 2 GW high voltage direct current electrical transmission system from June 1, 2024, after the completion of certain deliverables by the consortium in the coming months.

Seatrium and GE Vernova were awarded a five-year framework cooperation agreement by Tennet for three HVDC transmission systems for offshore wind farms off the Netherlands, each worth around €2 billion, with a total combined capacity of 6 GW. Seatrium is responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction, transportation, installation, and commissioning of the 2 GW HVDC offshore converter platform. The platform will contribute to TenneT’s goal of installing 40 GW of offshore wind energy in the German and Dutch North Seas and will serve the NWBE offshore wind farm, about 95 kilometres off the Dutch coast.
