Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo: The Sarajevo company, Energoinvest, has completed the 115 km long 400 kV transmission line and 400/220/33 kV substation in Tanzania, which will connect the country’s power system to Kenya for the first time. They worked on this $100 million project for four years. Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO) had special requirements regarding the preservation of the environment in the construction area, as the transmission line is located 70 km from the Kilimanjaro National Park, a tourist attraction that brings significant income to this country. The electricity pylons exceed a height of 80 m and weigh from 30 to 70 tons.

At the end of December last year, Energoinvest also completed and commissioned 400/220 kV and 220/60 kV substations in Algeria on a turnkey basis, a project worth €57.5 million. Company officials said they had a “hidden problem” while working on the project, the contract for which was signed back in 2013. They commented that the investor, GRTE-Sonelgaz, the national electricity and gas company in Algeria, and their electricity distributor picked locations for the substations on terrain that is part of a large regional landslide, which delayed the completion of the construction.
