Romania, Dobruja: Romanian power distribution system operator (DSO) Retele Electrice Dobrogea, part of Greek power utility Public Power Corp (PPC), will invest more than 67 million lei ($14.6 million/€13.4 million) to upgrade the energy infrastructure in the southeastern Navodari area. The works will cover the primary substation and the medium-voltage power lines in the area of the seaside town of Navodari. This will be partly financed via EU funds obtained through the Modernisation Fund and will benefit around 27500 customers.

The projects should be completed within about 24 months, and minimal disruption to electricity distribution services is expected. The use of monitoring and predictive maintenance systems is planned by the company to avoid network disruptions. Modernisation of the Navodari 110/20 kV substation is already ongoing, as part of a self-funded project worth 20 million lei, the aim of which is to replace transformers, switchgear, and control systems to improve the grid efficiency and reliability.
