USA, New York: Ørsted is celebrating the completion of its 130 MW South Fork Wind project, consisting of 12 wind turbines. The project is located in federal waters, 56 km (35 miles) away from Montauk on the eastern tip of Long Island, New York. New York Governor Kathy Hochul commented that this was just the beginning of the state’s offshore wind future.

The plan for the wind farm first received approval from the Long Island Power Authority in 2017. Construction started in February 2022, with turbine installation following in June 2023. This means the construction lasted just over two years.
