India, Rajasthan: Four bidders are in contention for an interstate transmission system (ISTS) scheme in Rajasthan through the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) route. The scheme is housed under the project SPV “Rajasthan IV A Power Transmission Ltd.” The four are Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd, Sterlite Power, Adani Energy Solutions Ltd and Apraava Energy Pvt Ltd. The selection of the successful bidder will take place on March 21.

The ISTS scheme is officially termed as: “Transmission system for evacuation of power from Rajasthan REZ Ph-IV (Part-2: 5.5 GW) (Jaisalmer/ Barmer Complex): Part A”, and the project SPV “Rajasthan IV A Power Transmission Ltd,” currently a wholly owned subsidiary of RECPDCL, will eventually be transferred to the successful developer. The scheme forms part of a comprehensive scheme called “Transmission system for evacuation of power from Rajasthan REZ Ph-IV (Part-2: 5.5 GW) (Jaisalmer/Barmer Complex)” that is being implemented as several independent components, mainly using the TBCB modality.

According to T&D India, bidding for all the seven TBCB-related components, Part A, Part B, Part C, Part D, Part E, Part F (combining F1 and F2) and Part H1, is currently underway, with three of the four bidders also qualifying for the “Part C” component. All the components are interrelated but are being bid out independently. They will be commissioned at the same time.
