Japan, Hokkaido: Chicago clean energy developer Invenergy LLC has energized its 63 MW Rusutsu wind farm in Japan, which is its first onshore wind turbine generation complex in the country. The project is situated within a winter resort area in the Abuta district of Hokkaido prefecture. The wind farm consists of 15 GE Vernova 4.2-117 machines, with an individual capacity of 4.2 MW, which can produce enough electricity to power 35000 homes annually. The hardware has been optimised to operate in extreme environmental conditions such as severe winds, heavy snowfall and seismic loading.
