Nigeria, Abuja: Residents of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and certain areas in Kogi State are currently affected by power outages due to technical glitches in a transmission substation. The areas are under the coverage of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), which has attributed the blackout to a technical fault on the 33 kV feeder k6 from AT9 Karu Transmission Station, managed by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

Residents in Zamani Estate, Abacha Road Mararaba, Ruga Juli, Old Karu Road, Glory Estate, and surrounding environs in Abuja have been impacted, but the AEDC has assured customers that maintenance crews are diligently working to restore supply.

In response to ongoing power challenges, the TCN recently commissioned a 100 MVA 132/33 kV power transformer at its Port Harcourt Main Transmission Substation. The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has expressed concern over the deteriorating situation in the country.
