250 MW floater given green light in Italy
The wind farm will be located off the coast of Sicily.

Italy, Rome: The Italian Ministry for Environment and Energy Security has given the approval for the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of the 250 MW 7SeasMed Floating Offshore Wind Project. Copenhagen Offshore Partners (COP) is the lead developer of the project owned by a consortium of GreenIT, a JV between Plenitude (Eni) and CDP Equity (CDP Group), and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP). The wind farm will be located about 35 km off the coast of Marsala, Sicily. This approval sets the stage for construction and operation of the wind farm.
COP Italy chief executive and project chief executive for 7SeasMed Michele Schiavone said: “We are delighted to receive EIA approval for the 7SeasMed floating offshore wind project off the coast of Sicily. This represents a significant achievement in our mission to accelerate the energy transition and combat climate change. The project underscores our commitment to pioneering innovative solutions that balance energy needs with environmental stewardship.”
7SeasMed forms part of a 3 GW offshore wind portfolio in Italy owned by the GreenIT and CIP partnership, of which COP serves as lead development partner, and is one of the largest floating portfolios in the country.
