Australia, Queensland: A high voltage transformer weighing more than 200 t has been delivered to Powerlink’s Bouldercombe Substation. The substation is one of the largest among the substations which service Central Queensland and is home to a grid-scale battery energy storage system (BESS), known as Big Bessie, owned by Genex.

It has been reported that the transformer left Gladstone Port around 10 pm on 23 March 2024 and arrived at the substation around 4.30 am on 24 March 2024, after being pulled by four prime movers on a total of 232 wheels. Its total operational weight is 326 t, it is 10.1 m long, 4.5 m wide and 4.4 m high. The transport was a collaborative effort with Queensland Police and transport contract, Rex J Andrews.
