Australia, Northern Territory: Early works are happening on an upgrade for the Trevor Horman Substation in Berrimah, set to ensure that the substation continues to meet the electricity demand of the Berrimah and Wishart industrial areas.

The functional and concept designs for the $55.3 million project have been completed and work has started on the detailed design phase. The Darwin-based company ESPEC has been awarded the design and construction contract for the project.

Civil works should begin on the site in August 2024, with construction progressing over the next two years. This includes installation of a 66 kV AIS switchyard, 66 kV power transformers, construction of a new control building, new 11 kV switchboard, new 11 kV reactor banks and associated secondary systems. According to the Northern Territory Minister for Essential Services, Kate Worden, this upgrade will ensure that the growing industrial areas of Berrimah and Wishart have reliable power supply.
