UAE, Dubai: The 2024 edition of Middle East Energy, the “region’s most comprehensive energy exhibition and conference”, has officially been cancelled! This was confirmed in a short statement published by the organisers. The statement said: “Today, we have made the incredibly difficult decision to cancel Middle East Energy 2024 in its entirety.”

A longer statement published later said that due to the extreme weather conditions in the last two days, the majority of exhibitors and visitors were unable to travel safely to the venue, and that the storm had affected exhibition halls and power supplies. The safety and security of everyone involved is the main priority, it was further said. As the cancellation will have a major impact on the participants, many of whom will be left with questions regarding the logistics, MEE customer service teams will be available to help them.

In an earlier, shorter statement, the organisers asked visitors, exhibitors and contractors not to make their way to the venue. An announcement yesterday said the exhibition was postponed.

Unstable weather conditions have caused issues in Dubai. A “year’s worth” of rain and thunderstorms hit the city on Tuesday, causing a flood in the exhibition space. A transformer was damaged, and one part of the space was left without power, an issue that the organisers couldn’t fix, thus prompting the final decision on cancellation. Transformers Magazine was also set to participate in the event.
