Australia, Queensland: Gransolar and Vena Energy’s 125 MW Amazon Solar Project – Wandoan in Queensland, Australia, has entered commercial operation. The project, 400 km north-west of Brisbane in the Darling Downs region of Queensland, is part of a 1 GW multi-staged renewable energy development called the Wandoan South Project. It could make an important contribution to Queensland’s transition to renewable energy and deliver it to local communities. The construction began in May 2022, and within one year, by May 2023, the plant had already reached 99% mechanical and electrical completion.

“The construction of this project has supported over 200 jobs and hosted a diverse workforce from across the State, including the direct involvement of the local community, accounting for more than 30% of the total workforce during the initial phase of the construction programme”, said Owen Sela, Head of Australia at Vena Energy.

Jose Miguel Plaza, country manager of Gransolar in Australia, commented: “We are extremely proud to have participated with Vena Energy in this project, a new milestone in the green transition being undertaken in Australia, which is especially remarkable in Queensland.”
