Uzbekistan, Tashkent/Saudi Arabia: Riyadh: Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power has sealed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan for the 5 GW Aral Wind farm in the northwestern autonomous region of Karakalpakstan. The project is Central Asia’s largest wind farm.

The $4.85 billion (€4.51 billion) power purchase agreement (PPA) at the Tashkent International Investment Forum and along with the inauguration of the 100 MW first phase of ACWA Power’s Riverside solar power plant in Uzbekistan. Aral Wind is an independent power producer (IPP) project which will be realised to generate clean electricity for around 4.5 million homes. The capacity will be installed in five phases. The output is estimated at some 18500 GWh per year when the entire complex goes online.
