USA, Minnesota: US utility Alliant Energy Corporation has put forward plans to add more turbines at its 201 MW Bent Tree Wind Farm in Minnesota and expand the complex to 351 MW. The project will involve the installation of new wind turbines, with a capacity of around 150 MW. An open house to present the proposal to the local community was held last week.

The original Bent Tree wind farm is located near Albert Lea in Freeborn County. It consists of 122 turbines which were commissioned in February 2011 and have a combined output equal to the consumption of roughly 53000 households annually.

The planned expansion could generate enough electricity to meet the demand of 60000 homes per year. Local media states that the company intends to lodge its planning application later this year or in 2025, and potentially begin construction in the second quarter of 2027, with the new turbines expected to go live by the last quarter of 2027.
