Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. The focus of this position is to lead/provide research and development activities within the local or global R&D Department related to instrument transformers.

Essential Responsibilities

• Design electrical or mechanical components of instrument transformers
• Perform calculations related to the performance of instrument transformers (electrical, mechanical, thermal etc.)
• Prepare drawings, BOMs and other technical documentation
• Support other departments (Sales, Sourcing, Supply Chain, QA, Testing etc.) related to technical matters
• Manage tasks assigned by the manager
• Lead designated subgroups within the larger R&D community for instrument transformers (cross-border activities)

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree, or higher, from college or university in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Minimum of 5 years related experience in the high voltage (123kV system voltage and above) instrument or power transformer design area
• Minimum of 3 years of recent FEA (ANSYS) experience

Desired Characteristics

• Up-to-date knowledge of AutoCad and either Solidworks or Creo
• Technical project management experience
• PDM and SAP knowledge
