USA, New Hampshire: Aclara Technologies LLC, St. Louis-based supplier of smart infrastructure technologies to electric, water and gas utilities, has announced that its affiliate has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the electricity meters business currently operating within GE Energy Management’s Grid Solutions subdivision, along with the General Electric plant in Somersworth, New Hampshire.

Belgium, Brussels: General Electric has won EU approval for its €12.4 billion ($13.9 billion) acquisition of Alstom’s power business after agreeing to sell some of the French company’s turbine assets to Italian rival Ansaldo Energia.

Spain, Bilboa: Spanish utility Iberdrola will buy a Connecticut-based UIL Holdings Corporation for about $3 billion to create a new listed power and electric utility and expand in the United States.

USA, Massachusetts: Doble Engineering Company, a subsidiary of ESCO Technologies, Inc. and a provider of diagnostic test instruments and services for electric power industry has acquired the assets of ENOSERV LLC, provider of agnostic system protection testing software and automation tools.

Argentine, La Rioja: The Argentine Ministry of Federal Planning has announced a public tender for the acquisition of two power transformers 500/138/34.5 kV – 300 MVA.
