Belgian grid operator Elia and its German counterpart 50Hertz have issued a tender for transformers and related equipment for offshore wind substations.

Germany: German state-owned bank KfW has agreed to acquire 20% stake in Eurogrid International, the holding company of German transmission system operator (TSO) 50Hertz, on behalf of the German Federal Government.

Elia, the power transmission system operator in Belgium, has selected a permanent on-line partial discharge (PD) cable monitoring system from OMICRON for its Stevin project. This project is a major undertaking by Elia to reinforce the high-voltage (HV) power grid in Belgium’s Flanders region. Installation of the OMICRON cable monitoring system will start in the spring of 2016.

Belgium: A capacity upgrade to increase the amount of Dutch electricity that can flow to Belgium to 4.5 GW from 3.5 GW will not be completed before winter, a spokeswoman from Belgian transmission system operator Elia has said.
