Egypt: Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) and the Belgian Elia Grid International signed two contracts, of which one aims to conduct a study of the unified national grid. The second one involves providing advisory services related to studying the needs of the unified network to accommodate renewable energies for green hydrogen projects.

The signing was done by Sabah Mohamed Meshaly, the Chairperson and Managing Director of EETC, and Frederic Van Cauteren, Commercial Director of Elia Grid.

The scope of the advisory study extends for nine months and includes a review of the dynamic model of the unified electrical network. The huge expansions took place in the network during the past eight years. It includes the preparation for future electrical interconnection projects with neighboring countries and the European continent as well.

Signing the consultancy services contract for studying the requirements for reinforcing the network seeks to address the anticipated immense increase in the production of energies from renewable sources. This is targeted to reach about 42% by 2035.
