Hitachi ABB Power Grids is seeking a Hub Lead Controls Engineer for its Raleigh, NC location. This role is responsible for leading and collaborating with the transformer factories across the North America Hub as well as suppliers and other stakeholders to develop standard enclosures, standard components and standard design practices for the control and monitoring of the transformer. Also supporting factories in the integration, documentation and troubleshooting of the controls. This position will require occasional travel to transformer manufacturing facilities in the US and Canada.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead, the standardization and documentation for the enclosures, control & wiring components, and design & Manufacturing practices of control boxes across the North America Hub.
  • Deep understanding of the customers and standards requirements and incorporate them into control schematic design.
  • Lead collaboration with Supply Chain to improve quality from the suppliers of parts and assemblies.
  • Lead the integration of design tools and software to generate quality and consistent wiring schematics and diagrams across factories.
  • Lead the development of a library for control and wiring components and documentation.
  • Lead and mentor control design engineers in the factories to share knowhow on the components wiring, configurations, communication protocols and troubleshooting. Including the generation of schematics for reference and documentation.
  • Lead controls system technology transfer from other facilities, requiring a deep understating of the factory capabilities and customer variations.
  • Provide support for integration of HAPG and 3rd party devices and coordinate activities with HUB/ GPG specialists

Your background

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 8+ years of experience in Electrical/ Electronics Engineering; OR, Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience in Electrical/ Electronics Engineering
  • Candidate must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi ABB Power Grids in the United States
  • Domain skills: Communication protocols/standards such as RS232, RS485, Ethernet, Fiber Optic, IEC61850, SCADA, 4-20 mA, Modbus. Relays and Protections.
  • Software skills: Zuken E3 (preferred), E-plan, AutoCAD Electrical, Creo or other 3D modeling Software, Control Circuits simulations
  • Standards: NFPA, NEC, UL 508A, ANSI
  • Additional skills: Control wirings and protections
