Nigeria and AFD sign $25 M deal

Nigeria, Abuja: The Nigerian Government and the French Development Agency (AFD) signed a grant agreement of $25 M (€25 M) for the Northern Corridor Project.

GETCO investing $1.7B in transmission network expansion

India, Vadodara: The Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Limited (GETCO) is planning an investment of $1.7 billion to build 400 new substations and add 10,000 circuit kilometres of transmission line by 2021-22.

$2.9M transformer deal signed for Sarajevo substation

Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo: Bosnian state-owned power transmission system operator Elektroprenos BiH signed a $2.9 million (€2.5 million) deal with a consortium of local companies and the Serbian unit of German engineering group Siemens for the construction of a power 110/20(10)/10 kV transformer within the existing substation.

ADB grants $600M loan for power system upgrades

Indonesia, Sumatra: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has agreed to provide $600 million loan to Indonesia’s state electricity corporation, Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), to upgrade transmission and distribution system in Sumatra.

Eskom signs $160M power distribution deal with AFD

South Africa: South Africa’s largest utility company Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd. signed a 150 million-euro (nearly $160 million) credit agreement with France’s development agency to enhance reliability of the power grid and help the power company improve distribution of electricity.

Haryana to commission 215 additional substations

India, Chandigarh: Haryana state government has revealed plans of commissioning and expansion of hundreds of new and existing substations of various capacities in the next three years in order to strengthen the power transmission and distribution system in the state.

USA, Ohio: FirstEnergy has made an investment of $690 million in the Ohio Edison service area on power transmission and distribution infrastructure, including building new transmission lines, new substations, and installing new power transformers.
