Potomac Edison to build a new substation in West Virginia

USA: Potomac Edison, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy, has begun construction of a new 34.5 kV power line as part of the $5 million project which will link an existing substation near Baker, West Virginia, to a new substation that will be built in Mathias, West Virginia, in 2017.

First 765 kV transformer manufactured in U.S. in 25 years

Japan, Tokyo: Mitsubishi Electric Corporation announced that Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. (MEPPI), a Mitsubishi Electric’s subsidiary based in the North America, shipped its first high-capacity 765 kV power transformer to a U.S utility company American Electric Power (AEP) at the end of April.

L&T wins 400 kV Oman substation contract

Mumbai, India: Indian engineering and construction firm Larsen & Toubro (L&T) announced its regional subsidiary has won a turnkey order to construct reactor transformers for a customer in Oman.
