Mexico, Mexico City: Mexico’s federal utility CFE has awarded Siemens a $29.8 million substation and transmission line project in the northern state of Coahuila.

Uganda, Kampala: Umeme Ltd., the largest electric utility in Uganda, has entered into an agreement with ABB Uganda Limited and Babcon Uganda Ltd to build a new 40 MVA medium volt substation at Kira Town Council, Namugongo.

USA, North Dakota: Minot-based Central Power Electric Cooperative has been awarded a $46 million loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development that will help finance the improvement of the energy infrastructure in North Dakota.

Canada, Saskatchewan: SaskPower, the principal electric utility in Saskatchewan province in Canada, is planning to invest more than CAD 1 billion (over USD 800 million) a year for the foreseeable future in order to renew and grow the province’s power grid, according to company’s website.

Canada, Manitoba: Manitoba Hydro, the electric power and natural gas utility in the province of Manitoba, Canada has awarded a USD 24 million (CAD 31.4 million) engineering, procurement and construction contract to a consortium led by GE’s Digital Energy to build a new, 66 kV gas-insulated substation (GIS) in downtown Winnipeg.

USA, Ohio: FirstEnergy has transported a 300-ton power transformer from the Ohio Commerce Center on Route 45 to a power substation on Highland Avenue in Lordstown, Ohio.

India, Andhra Pradesh: The indoor substation being built on the Museum Road in Vijayawada in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India dedicated for the Chief Minister’s camp office is in advanced stages of completion and is likely to be ready by August 15.

Tanzania, Dar es Salaam: The Tanzania Electricity Supply Company (TANESCO) has recently received a $38 million grant from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to build new substations, expand the existing ones and construct new interconnections.
