The Power Grids business offers power and automation products, systems, service and software solutions across the generation, transmission and distribution value chain. Hitachi ABB Power Grid Automation team provide the most complete digital portfolio in the industry, offering our customers with end-to-end solutions. Combining our products with our exceptional expertise allows us to provide innovative solutions to energize the digital grid. The Transformers business is looking for an experienced Transformer Intelligence Engineer to join the team. Focus will be to Develop the full Transformer Intelligence Portfolio in Australia. This includes implementing sales strategies to develop Service solutions aimed at addressing problems with transformer products, such as Oil and Gas Analysis, Design reviews/studies, Advanced Diagnostics, Asset Management solutions by means of condition monitoring systems with predictive analytics and support sensor and monitoring technology.

Your Responsibilities

  • Position the transformer Intelligence portfolio by reviewing customer needs, design reviews, problem solving and Transformer technology to position the portfolio and securing customers through advantages and their benefits.
  • Analyze customers, market and segments to align the portfolio and connected strategies to penetrate the market
  • Adopt proactive approach through installed base analysis and aging, in order to promote the transformer Intelligence portfolio and condition based expert services.
  • Track performance relative to targets set by the LPG
  • Investigate and understand customer needs to identify new business opportunities, as well as maximizing the business potential with existing customers.
  • Includes gathering and analyzing customer data in order to support the development of sales proposals aligned to the customer’s specific needs.
  • Establish proper price through Value-Add services in negotiations with customers.
  • Own the customer data base (AHT, CoreTEC, CoreSesnse) and provide for a regular quality assurance of customer database content (e.g. Recording product type, quantities, locations)
  • Collaborate with Services Sales and participate in Tenders and Proposals of Transformer Condition Assessment, Retrofit and Refurbishments, and Workshop Operations.
  • Collaborates with all related internal contacts to ensure alignment, efficiency and effectiveness in the implementation of the Transformer Intelligence strategy.
  • Review customer Technical data to provide assessment/inspection services further leading to potential sales opportunities
  • Execute the Asset Health Transformer (AHT) analytical software and relevant reporting for discussion with customers and potential on-sell of service level agreements. Be the first point of call for execution of the full Transformer Intelligence portfolio.
  • Execute online monitoring technology and devices including programming on site for new and retrofit projects
  • Conduct Transformer reviews through screening, design and condition bases assessments, perform life cycle assessments via collection of aggregate operational and monitoring data
  • Thermal/Electrical upgrade studies allowing for transformer redesign, Design studies to enter the retro fill market with ester fluid offerings
  • Core TEC / Core Sense retrofits and upgrades including software administration.

Your background

  • A Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in at technical role in similar industry
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in local and global business environment
  • Deep knowledge of products and their life cycle; a preferred knowledge of design, diagnostics and the ageing process of Transformers
  • Familiar with MRP systems SAP
  • MS Outlook, MS Office
  • A thorough understanding of financial statements.
  • Cost calculation and finance knowledge and commercial aspects of business
  • Experience in financial reporting, and will be comfortable tracking forecasts
