Job Description

Barun Corp is hiring a full time Solar PV Designer to support the residential and commercial design & engineering of solar/PV system projects in the USA. You will be a full time contractor and work 100% remotely.

What You Will Do

• Complete system design for Solar PV projects including: site plan, roof plan, module layout, mechanical racking and attachment plans, single line and three line electrical diagrams, bill of materials, labels, specification of BOS location and interconnection details
• Produce permit sets for rooftop and ground mount solar projects using AutoCAD
• Ensure designs are code compliant
• Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and review of vendor data
• Help with estimates for work on commercial projects

Must Have(s)

• Integrity, Strong Work Ethic, and Curiosity
• Proficient in AutoCAD
• 5+ years of working experience as a Drafter/Designer preferably in PV solar industry
• 2+ years’ experience designing AC and DC photovoltaic systems, including interconnections, in the residential and commercial industry
• Strong working knowledge of PV system and/or Helioscope
• Ability to interface with multiple engineering disciplines
• Proficient in English (verbal and written)
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Professional experience working on residential or commercial projects in the USA
• Professional experience working on projects using the following codes: NEC Code, IEBC, IBC and IRC

Nice to Have(s)

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong working knowledge of wood structures
• Experience reviewing plan sets for construction and working with RFI’s during the construction process
• Working experience with power distribution and conversion (DC-AC, DC-DC, AC-DC)
• Expert knowledge of switchgear and transformers
• Understand fault currents, appropriate transformer sizing, over-current device coordination approaches, complete voltage drop calculations and know how to appropriate size conductors for conditions of use
• Knowledge of power metering and controls
