The company profile

Shandong Electrical Engineering & Equipment Group Co., Ltd (SDEE), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), was founded in May 2012. As a specialized R&D manufacturing platform focusing on electric energy equipment, SDEE prioritizes development of UHV & EHV transformers, towers and cables, etc.

Currently, 21 enterprise units are affiliated to SDEE. In terms of the ownership structure, 18 of these units are wholly-owned and holding companies, and three are joint ventures. In terms of business, five units are transformer manufacturers, 11 units are tower manufacturers, one unit is a cable & conductor manufacturer, one unit is a GIS manufacturer, and three units are service companies. By the end of March 2015, SDEE headquarters had eight departments in total (five functional and three operating departments). By the end of 2014, SDEE had total assets worth nearly 3 billion USD and over 10,000 employees, while in 2015 the annual sales revenue has been over 2 billion USD.

The mission of SDEE is to serve and support strong smart power grid in the world. Specializing in the manufacture of the transmission & transformation electrical equipment, the company persists on the development of the equipment that satisfies high criteria and high requirements, facing both domestic and international markets and adapting to new patterns of global market competition. The company strives and succeeds in getting larger, stronger and better. Playing the support role in SGCC’s direct affiliate industry, the company is a vital supplier of the electrical equipment and integrated solutions.

Industrial pattern

Today, SDEE has formed an industrial pattern dominated by Jinan as its transformers, reactors and GIS base; and Chongqing, Jiangsu, Anhui, Shanxi, Zhejiang, Beijing, and Qingdao as its towers, cables & conductors bases.

In order to better serve UHV power grid construction and implement a rapid and stable development, SDEE has invested 500 million USD in building a new manufacturing plant in Jinan on 604 hectares of land. The plant is mainly engaged in the manufacture of UHV transformers and reactors, and has the annual production capability of over 100 GVA. It is equipped with world-class equipment, and is capable to manufacture and test 1000 kV UHV AC transformers, shunt reactors, ±800 kV convertor transformers, smoothing reactors, etc.
