The company overview

Qualitrol was founded in East Rochester, New York, USA in 1945, starting as a supplier of instrumentation for transformers, predominantly mechanical pressure relief devices, thermometers, liquid level gauges, flow indicators, etc. In 1986, the company was acquired by Danaher and since then we have been operating independently, serving the power generation, transmission, distribution and industrial customers. Danaher is a group of diversified industrial companies, with a portfolio of multiple leading industrial companies, such as Fluke, Tectronix, and many other recognized companies.

In the last ten years we have progressed from a mechanical sensor company to the next level of being a recognized leader in transformer condition monitoring. We added to our portfolio advanced sensors, such as dissolved gas analysis, fiber optics, partial discharge and bushing monitoring through acquisitions, new products development and open innovation. In the future, we will be expanding to include other assets and to make sure we have all the sensors, the monitors and the condition monitoring software.

Our revenue is nearly USD300M globally, and we currently employ close to 800 people, with 550 of them working with transformers. So, we have a global workforce and we have six production facilities – two in the U.S., two in Canada, and two in the U.K. No two sites make the same products, so each site has the expertise of different sensor technology or solution. We have kept all of our acquisitions and empowered them while we were growing the business, but also made sure that the experts and the talent that we have are still retained.

Our markets are: America roughly 35%, EMEA 35% and Asia Pacific 30%. So, we have an equally split business and more of 50% of that revenue is coming from high growth markets.

The company values

At Qualitrol our customers come first. We start with the customer and then the culture is built around the concept of ‘anything, anytime, anywhere’.
