Growing with PFIFFNER Group

Moser Glaser is an independent producer of transformers, wall bushings and busbars. We are a Swiss-based company with 128 employees, and a part of PFIFFNER Group, the company mainly focused on current transformers (CTs) and voltage transformers (VTs) with its headquarters in Switzerland and employing 550 people globally. PFIFFNER is also present in Brazil, Turkey and Germany.

The PFIFFNER companies, including Moser Glaser, share their resources in Research and Development under a common platform to develop new products.

The group is family-owned. The owner, who is the chairman of the group, has more than 40 years of experience in operating business. We are entirely independent and operate with our own financial capital, investing back into the company. This also gives us full power to move forward in the direction that we want to go. So, we can proudly say that both Moser Glaser and PFIFFNER have been an example of very successful companies, with the entire team working together and standing behind this success.

PFIFFNER’s major product is the instrument transformer. However, today, the bushing business is becoming more and more important for Moser Glaser, but also for the group. Over the past ten years or so, we have recorded a growth of ten times in the turnover for transformer bushings. We have produced some 4,000 – 5,000 units of bushings of all types, for both power and distribution transformers, but the power transformer market remains our main market.

Product range

Our product line includes oil-to-air bushings (with resin-impregnated paper (RIP) and silicon housing), oil-to-oil bushings, and oil-to-SF6 bushings, manufactured according to IEC and IEEE standards. In terms of voltage class, we currently produce up to a maximum of 300 kV, but we have plans to increase the capacity of our factory to reach 550 kV next year.

We also have some DIN type bushings, which are more for the low voltage side. This is a non-capacitive type bushing of 12, 24 and 36 kV with silicon housing. Although the market today is still more porcelain-oriented for this type of bushing, we now have a solution for customers who require a full set of power transformer bushings with silicon.
