Cost-competitive European quality

BOLLINA is a family-owned company manufacturing slitting lines, cut-to-length machines, levelling cut-to-length lines, and combined lines that can provide both cutting and slitting by the same line. Our core business is steel industry, which is diversified in many fields, from the construction of buildings to roofing and plumbing market. Our customers are mostly small and medium-size service centers which process different kinds of material, from aluminum through copper, brass and stainless steel to carbon steel. These are all materials that have a lot of application in the market. Up until a few years ago, the transformer industry was our niche market. We produced the first slitting line for silicon steel in 1995, which was more than 20 years ago when we were not as known in this field as we are today. This is still the product that we produce for the transformer industry.

How we started

In 1962, my father started a business in the field of manufacturing agricultural machines. Around 1968, due to the need in the market we started manufacturing steel cutting and slitting machines. On one occasion my father decided to present one of the machines at an exhibition and suddenly, and very quickly, he received a lot of interest. So much so that within next few years we shifted our complete production to these machines. Around 1969, we abandoned agricultural machinery for steel cutting machines, and we have been in the slitting business ever since.

Supplying globally

Nowadays, we deliver machines all around the world. We have delivered machines to South American countries like Brazil, Argentina, Perù; at the moment we are completing a big order for North America, and just recently we received inquiries from Central America (Mexico). Of course we are present in all countries in Europe, as well as in Russia, Ukraine, Iran, China and some other Asian countries like Indonesia, Singapore and Vietnam. We also cover some African countries like Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Republic of South Africa, etc., but there are still some areas where we are yet to enter the market such as Japan and Australia.

Applications

In terms of the target customers in the transformers industry, our lines are designed to serve end users, i.e. transformer producers and small service centers. Our TRAFOGRID partner FASPAR delivers solutions for big service centers and even producers of silicone steel, such as ThyssenKrupp, ArcelorMittal, etc. These customers require high-performance lines capable of managing coils of 15 to 20 tons, as well as very fast and highly automated lines able to provide automatic solutions for the quick replacement of the tooling, quick solutions for loading and unloading, etc. Productivity is defined by the machine speed and the level of automation.
