Megacities – resilient solutions for electrical power supply

TRANSFORM, the international conference and exhibition for specialists from the transformer industry, is dedicating this year in the HONG KONG Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) to the topic of megacities. In the context of a study, three central points were identified. A very important aspect is the topic of resilience. The loads on the power grids are increasing, intelligent grid management is becoming even more important and includes the ability to operate grids specifically under overload. This only works – and this is the second important finding of the study – with intelligent operating resources. The third important point is efficiency: How can electricity be transported to the megacities without high costs and with minimal losses?

From 25 to 27 September, the partners and sponsors of TRANSFORM will be presenting innovative solutions for the challenges of reliable power supply in megacities. In 18 different technical lectures, renowned industry experts will present trend-setting topics.

Innovation Lab

Another highlight is the Innovation Lab. It shows a transformer model with a new compact and modular design. In addition to a high-temperature tap-changer, the new embedded transformer operating system ETOS® – the open standard for the future digitization of transformers – will be presented. In combination with new intelligent sensors and monitoring systems, ETOS® enables solutions for intelligent grid operation that have been developed in cooperation with PSI – the European market leader for energy control systems. In addition, the further use of online sensor data and diagnostic measurements in several asset and fleet management solutions for substations will be demonstrated.
