The tutorial encompasses a large number of subject matters, from the basis and foundation of AI to the most complex ML algorithms, from a survey carried out with many countries on the use of these algorithms, to the current bottlenecks and existing roadblocks in their application, from the AI framework to the maturity and actual case studies in the much diverse field of electricity industry, from research level on the basic concepts to full blown implementations in several countries and power systems, from the Technology Readiness for Machine Learning (TR4ML) concept a wide range of applications such as for example, but not limited to, PD pattern recognition in online monitoring, transformer condition assessment, image classification and reinforcement learning in grid operation, to name a few. The material also covers the challenges that lie ahead and that are common to all countries and our industry as a whole, such as IT requirements and readiness to incorporate such novel solutions, scalability of pilot solutions, data availability and readiness for AI consumption, and last but not least, ethical and environmental issues.
