Interview with Jong Geon Lee

Dr. Jong Geon Lee is a senior researcher in the Transmission and Substation lab of the KEPCO Research Institute.



Dr. Jong Geon Lee received a BSc degree from Hanyang University, Ansan, Korea, in 2012, and following that, he acquired a master’s degree in engineering. Precisely, his master’s thesis was on insulation design of high voltage equipment. After that, he did a Ph.D. thesis on the transient analysis of HVAC and HVDC systems, dealing with research on the design of HVDC circuit breakers at the same university.

He is a senior researcher in the Transmission and Substation lab of the KEPCO Research Institute.

Korea Electric Power Corporation, better known as KEPCO or Hanjeon, is the largest electric utility in South Korea, responsible for the transmission and distribution of electricity and the development of electric power projects, including those in nuclear power, wind power, and coal.

KEPRI currently conducts a wide range of research on transmission and distribution fields, and it is focusing on power grid operating strategies for the development of new power technology and creating business areas. It is actively operating to provide suitable solutions for management techniques and technical support for the optimal operation of power facilities.
