Michel Augonnet is President of CIGRÉ, a global community committed to the collaborative development and sharing of power system expertise.
Michel Augonnet is President of CIGRÉ, a global community committed to the collaborative development and sharing of power system expertise, established in 1921 in Paris, France, and President of Supergid Institute since 2018.
Prior to this role, he was Senior Vice President for Alstom Grid Commercial Solutions (now GE) in charge of the Regional Sales and Project organization.
Graduate Engineer from SUPELEC in Power Electronics in 1973 he held various positions in the Power Generation Industry (Nuclear, Hydro, Thermal) and Grid Transmission from Project Manager to Senior Executive in companies such as Cegelec, ABBAlstom Power, Areva T&D, Alstom Grid.
He was 7 years Chairman of the French CIGRE National Committee and a member of the CIGRÉ Steering Committee. He has been elected Vice-President Finance of CIGRÉ in 2016.
We have decided globally, under the notion of sustainability, to change the nature of the power generation, both by making it much more open and by changing where it is coming from, and its physical origin, meaning to have a mix from much more sources.
