USA, New Hampshire: Two out of four new step up transformers have been delivered to Harborside Park for Seabrook Station nuclear power plant.

The park is temporarily closed as a safety precaution during the delivery of the large transformers. It is unknown when the other two transformers will arrive.

According to Town Manager, Bill Manzi, the delivery went without incident, reports Seacoast Online.

The transformers are being transported individually by barge from Europe during late-night and overnight hours to avoid causing traffic congestion and other issues.

The transformers weigh about 400,000 pounds (181.4 tonnes) apiece and are 21 feet long (6.4 m), 13 feet wide (4 m) and 13 feet tall (4 m). Sarah Gebo, Seabrook Station’s communications manager, said the transformers will replace the existing transformers and be used to step up voltage from 23 kV to 345 kV from the station’s main generators.

The transformers will be transported over the road to the plant one at a time.
