Sentry-DS, a transformer protection company based in Texas has launched the Sentry FDS – a sub 6MS reaction transformer fire prevention device.
Sentry FDS is a proactive solution for preventing transformer fires and is patented as one of its kind.
“This is not a disposable system, rather it can be transferable to new transformers,” said Bill Kendrick, President and CEO, Sentry-DS, USA.
Sentry Fast Depressurisation System is a technology which helps to reduce fire accidents in power industry. Oil filled electrical transformers are dangerous and possibility of catching fire is high, according to Sentry-DS officials.
Conventional transformer protections do not respond fast to prevent dangerous fires and explosions from occurring within a facility. Even though various types of protective devices have been developed and installed, they have limited success, the company officials said. This is due to their response time not being fast enough to prevent static pressure build-up, said Kendrick.
The fast depressurisation system with pin valve, the latest technology to address the known fire and explosion hazards associated with oil-filled transformers, prevents the factors which cause these fires from occurring in the first place.
