The Power Development Department (PDD) announced that the colony transformer in Tengpora area, Kashmir, India has been repaired in 9 days. The announcement came as a reaction to public allegations regarding the repair.

The PDD Executive Engineer Muhammad Yousuf Baba said that two transformers were damaged in the area recently, first one being repaired within a week.

Mr Baba’s colleague said that the residents are causing the problem because they are reluctant to allow metering. “Even though meters have been installed over a year back, residents don’t allow connecting it to the supply lines,” he said.

He added that the transformers supplying the area were much bigger and can handle larger than “the agreed load but that the actual load is very huge.”
