India, Calangute: Three new 200 kV transformers will be installed at Calangute and Candolim in order to solve the electricity problem of beach shack operators who face the perennial problem of low voltage.

MLA Lobo spoke to STOI while the foundation for a power transformer at Sauntavaddo (W), Baga was being laid, saying the 200-odd public beach shacks and a large number of private beach shacks always receive low voltage because the power is given from the same transformers which supply power to commercial and residential units in the coastal belt, placing an additional seasonal burden on the transformers.

Electricity department executive engineer Raj Gopal said the 200 kV transformer at Sauntavaddo (W) would be ready before the tourist season, reports The Times of India.
