Woodstock City Hall on Dundas Street, Ontario, Canada was closed down yesterday due to fire and it will also be closed today.

The fire that broke out before 3 a.m. at 500 Dundas Street is believed to be related to the underground transformers and high winds. It was quickly extinguished by fire crews but City Hall was enveloped in smoke which caused significant damage and infrastructure issues. Power crews are currently working to restore power in Woodstock.

“There was a high-voltage fault of some kind. We’re not sure of the root cause yet,” says Jeff Barney of Woodstock Hydro.

“There is no power. Our servers are down. Our phone systems are down,” city CAO David Creery told CTV News adding that the city has brought a generator in.

Due to the incident, the scheduled meetings will take place in the County Building at 21 Reeves Street.

No injuries have been reported.

It was stated on the city’s website that officials hoped to have offices open as usual on Wednesday.
