USA, Illinois: The transformer fire at the Dynegy Hennepin  power plant shut down Unit 2 where fire departments were called after reports of a “big fire” in the transformer yard or switch yard.

“Nobody got hurt, not any of us, or any of the plant workers.” said Darryel Peterson, Hennepin’s fire chief.

Peterson said when firefighters left the scene there was no indication of the cause of the fire, reports News Tribune. He added that the transformers at the plant are filled with oil and that the oil inside the transformer was what was burning. “I’d assume the power company will be trying to figure that out for a while.” he said.

“We’ll do an investigation into the cause of the fire.” said Katy Sullivan, public relations for Dynegy in Houston, Texas, adding she was not aware whether there was additional damage to the power plant.
