The Energía de la Provincia CEO, Raul Trungelliti, spoke exclusively to Multimedia regarding the 500 kV power line tendered late last year with the 95 % of purchased materials ensuring the future availability.

Trungelliti said that the substations will be installed in Pampa Múyoj, starting in Lavalle towards the National Route 64. The construction is scheduled to end in December 2014.

The substation extensions will stretch 98 km and enable the province to be directly connected to the national power system along with Tierra del Fuego which has never been connected.

The investment in the project is about 850 million pesos and Trungelliti reported that budgets were fully worked out.

Trungelliti explained that this project will enable the province to connect with regards to power supply and attract all industries to Santiago. There is an option to expand the line of La Aguada to upgrade the power supply.

By having a 500 kV transformer stations and 132 kV lines at Añatuya and Quimilí to Monte Quemado, a ‘closed ring’ can be achieved. Trungelliti said that in the future, a 132 kv transformer station will distribute medium and low voltage to each town.

He added that the 132 kV line tendering to Santiago sur-Loreto is currently working at 33 kV and is obsolete. The line was installed more than 35 years ago and it is necessary to upgrade it with growing demand.
