Alstom T&D India wins contract to supply transformers in Bhutan

India, New Delhi: Alstom T&D India has won a contract worth INR 55 crore ($9 million) for supplying power transformers in Bhutan.

India, New Delhi: Alstom T&D India has won a contract worth INR 55 crore ($9 million) for supplying power transformers in Bhutan.

Alstom T&D India will supply 13 units of 75 MVA generator transformers. The company will design, engineer, manufacture, supply, transport, erect, test and commission the generator transformer, shunt reactors and associated equipment for the project. All power equipment will be supplied from the manufacturing facility in Naini.

“Alstom T&D India has been awarded a INR 55 crore ($9 million) contract by Mangdechhu Hydroelectric Project Authority to supply power transformers for a 720 MW project.” the company said in a statement.

Hydropower sector in Bhutan is targeting 10,000 MW of hydroelectric generation by 2020, reports The Economic Times.

“Alstom T&D India is pleased to contribute to an ambitious hydropower development plan, and help establish a robust electrical grid for Bhutan with its latest technological products.” said Rathin Basu, Managing Director of Alstom T&D India.
