USA, California: Following numerous outages over the years, along with blown transformers, Southern California Edison (SCE) will start massive infrastructure upgrade programme.

The upgrades worth $6.2 million will include the installation of 154 new overhead transformers and the replacement of 660 wooden poles, along with underground infrastructure and power equipment, reports Daily Breeze.

“I think it’s great that they’re reinvesting in infrastructure here locally.” said Mayor Amy Howorth. “It became clear that there were problems with their infrastructure and equipment. We had more outages than we should have had.” According to city staff’s anecdotal data, the city had 65 planned outages and 25 unplanned outages in 2013.
