Corpoelec workers labour for 20 hours to restore service

A fault in a power transformer at Maripa substation, left Agua Salada and Sabanita areas with no power supply. It was eventually restored by Corpoelec in Ciudad Bolivar.

A fault in a power transformer at Maripa substation, left Agua Salada and Sabanita areas with no power supply. It was eventually restored by Corpoelec in Bolivar City.

The team of 80 highly skilled and committed engineers, technicians and security personnel worked in an organised manner from 1 p.m. on Monday to 8 a.m. Tuesday to fully restore circuits Ă Peru I and Ă Peru II in Agua Salada and in part of Parroquia Sabanita in Heres del Estado Bolivar municipality.

The transformer at Maripa substation is 50 years old and has not been serviced yet. Due to the transformer not being maintained for so long, it has suffered irreversible internal damage it will be replaced by a new transformer that comes from the Central Hidroelelectrica Manuel Piar (Manuel Piar Hydroelectric).

In order to guarantee power supply, the electric company workers made an effort to take as much load as possible from the Farallones substation to Macagua in Bolivar City in order to keep the supply active in the city while installing the new equipment.

The problem that could have left a good part of the city without service for at least 72 hours, was solved in record time due to willingness and commitment of the workers who were engaged thoroughly to resolve the issue.
