USA, Ohio: A giant substation is currently under construction in the northern part of Toronto, Jefferson County under FirstEnergy’s initiative.
The new substation is being equipped with the enormous equipment as part of a $32 million project by FirstEnergy. Power transformers are expected to be delivered soon along with the rest of the oversized loads moving through the area, reports WTOV9.
A spokesman for the company said it is “a comprehensive construction programme designed to enhance service reliability to customers as power plants in the region are deactivated due to the high cost of complying with U.S. EPA standards.”
According to FirstEnergy, the work will continue until the end of the year and the substation will be fully operational by the end of May 2015.
