India: ABB India Ltd has won an order worth around INR 55 crore ($9 million) from Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation Ltd. (TANTRANSCO), to build a new indoor gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) substation in downtown Chennai.

ABB will design, supply, install and commission the substation and supply nine bays of 230 kV GIS, power transformers and 23 indoor switchgear units rated at 33 kV. The project is scheduled for completion in 2015, reports RTT News.

ABB India’s Head Power Systems N. Venu said: “ABB India is a proven reliable partner for delivering projects on time.
