ZPC wins deal with Sino-Hydro to expand Hwange Thermal Power Station
Zimbabwe: The Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC) has won a $1,1 billion deal with Sino-Hydro for expansion of Hwange Thermal Power Station.

Zimbabwe: The Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC) has won a $1,1 billion deal with Sino-Hydro for expansion of Hwange Thermal Power Station.
Tomorrow, ZPC and Sino-Hydro will sign the deal for engineering, procurement and construction of the station and associated power equipment to add 600 MW to the national power grid.
The contract had initially been awarded to China Machinery, Engineering Corporation, but the deal was cancelled after the company failed to secure funding, reports All Africa.
ZPC visited two thermal power stations constructed by Sino-Hydro in China. The company source added: “We also visited their factories in Dong Feng, which manufacture turbines and generators as well as TBEA, which manufactures transformers they used.”
Sino-Hydro had earlier won the contract for expansion of Kariba South hydro power station to add 300 MW to the plant’s capacity of 750 MW.
