85 power transformers installed throughout Ghardaïa

Algeria, Ghardaïa: 85 power transformers were commissioned through various locations of Ghardaïa as part of 2014 emergency programme of the Society of Distribution of Electricity and Gas (SDC-centre).
The growing demand for electricity, particularly in the summer, caused the need for installation of the power equipment to strengthen the electricity supply and avoid load shedding, said Ahmed Brahimi.
The 2014 emergency programme has a budget of around DZD 945 million ($11.3 million). Last year the SDC invested around DZD 900 million ($10.8 million) in improvement of power equipment and electricity supply.
