TANGEDCO to install 3,400 new transformers

India, Vellore: TANGEDCO - the Vellore division of the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation, will be installing 3,400 new transformers at a cost of INR 120 crore ($20 million) in urban areas.

India, Vellore: TANGEDCO – the Vellore division of the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation, will be installing 3,400 new transformers at a cost of INR 120 crore ($20 million) in urban areas.

The area comprises the districts of Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri, reports The New Indian Express.

The programme will be carried out under the Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (R-APDRP). 210 transformers have already been installed in the region and will be functioning in next ten days.

10 transformers, five in Ambur and five in Vaniyambadi, were inaugurated on Tuesday. The work on the 110 kVA substation is also underway at Somalapuram in Ambur.
