USA, Indiana: Indiana’s utility customer advocate says regulators should reject Duke Energy Corp.’s proposal for a $1.9 billion grid upgrade as the utility has not provided legally required details about its proposed spending on infrastructure, such as power transformers and transmission lines.

Duke spokeswoman Angeline Protogere said the company has provided hundreds of pages of documentation about its plans. She said: “Our electric grid is ageing and many components need to be updated and replaced.”

The company intends to improve the system by updating and replacing infrastructure such as substations, power transformers and power lines, reports IBJ.

A state utility commission hearing on Duke’s request is scheduled to begin on the 18th December 2014.
