Vegetable oil as an energy source is considered good for the environment and ERDF is also interested in recycling the oil from food manufacturers who can sell it on until it is ready for disposal.
The company intends to replace the transformer oil throughout the department from conventional petroleum products for industrial vegetable oil, including rapeseed oil, reports Agro Media.
The technology is in its infancy but the company sees it as an effective way to recycle used vegetable oils. In Charente, there are sites of local food production that will provide the public distribution network with vegetable oil.
